The Training Wing
Halliday Finch specializes in Realism Pre-Deployment Training (RPDT). The students, up to 40 at a time, attend our 4 day course in the heart of Karen, Nairobi, to study vehicle drills, communication drills, first aid, and crisis management skills.
Please Note: Attendees can also include your staff who are already deployed or even local national employees whom you believe would benefit from attending the course.
Halliday Finch Training is different for two reasons, the first being that the training involves the participation of role players from the region of deployment (Somalia, South Sudan, Darfur, etc) who are dressed in the same way they would be in that country. This adds an important degree of realism to the training as the role players will also be imparting their culture on the trainees.
Secondly, the course has been tailored to fit the lowest of training budgets. Historically, Directors and Senior Managers were the only attendees of a pre-deployment course, often in the US or UK and always at great expense. The Halliday Finch course is directed at all NGO employees, from Director to Driver, as we believe that this relationship forms part of the security blanket when deployed. Furthermore, statistically it is the middle management and the workers who are getting hurt in the field as they are spending the most time deployed and paradoxically have the least training.
Our instructors are all Africa-specific trainers to ensure that the test phases are as realistic as possible. They know their training is aimed at saving the lives of the course attendees by giving them the skills to operate effectively and safely in unpredictable environments.
Halliday Finch supplies interpreters for those NGO employees who do not speak English.
The groups and individuals are tested rigorously on TEST DAY and marked accordingly.
